Business questions with visual answers
ThoughtSpot combines search-led analytics with dashboards connected to business data. Spotter adds a conversational way to explore those sources: a question can produce a chart, a table and an explanation, while follow-up questions develop the same analysis. The experience is useful for recurring questions about sales, customers and operational performance.
Spotter 3 extends the agent beyond structured tables to supported unstructured content and configured external tools. Its available context depends on enabled connections and administrative settings. Older Spotter versions have different capabilities, so the version enabled in a tenant matters when evaluating the broader agent features.
Answers can be pinned to Liveboards, where teams share charts, tables and KPI views. Access rights determine whether someone can view, edit or use the underlying data. Liveboard PDF downloads and TML definitions serve different purposes: a PDF shares a report, while TML supports managing analytics objects.
Warehouse connections include Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift and BigQuery. Joins operate within a configured connection rather than spanning separate connections. The developer platform supports embedding and integration, making ThoughtSpot relevant both as a company analytics destination and as reporting inside another application.
Best for
- Business teams exploring governed warehouse data
- Analysts developing reusable dashboards
- Software teams embedding analytics in a product
Limitations
Spotter does not provide fine-grained chart formatting through conversation, and parameters have limited support. Agent versions differ. Credit prices do not establish a fixed cost per question, and joins cannot span separate data connections.
