Recorded conversations with an editor built for close review
Rev brings recorded interviews, meetings and other audio into a transcript editor with synchronized playback. Edit speaker names and text, leave comments and mark useful passages with highlights or bookmarks. Clips make selected moments easier to find, although a shared clip link can give the recipient access to the full transcript and recording.
The AI workspace adds questions and analysis across related files. Essentials supports analysis of up to ten files at a time, while Pro expands that to fifty and adds features such as custom templates and image insights. Pro and Unlimited also offer side-by-side transcript translation in beta. Rev’s human transcription service provides another route for English recordings and is purchased separately from AI subscriptions.
Rev processes recordings in the cloud. Its speech-recognition training guide describes ongoing use of anonymous data to improve its own models, with a training opt-out for Enterprise/Unlimited customers. That is different from claims about third-party language-model training. Current seat caps and monthly minute pools also differ from older subscription terms, so existing customers may have a legacy plan.
Best for
- Interviewers reviewing recordings and transcripts
- Teams analyzing several related recordings
- People needing a choice of AI and human transcription
Limitations
Human transcription is billed separately. Essentials allows at most three seats and Pro five; those are caps, not minimums. AI transcript SRT/VTT exports differ from caption orders. Shared clip links may expose the full recording. Rev’s own speech-model training opt-out is reserved for Enterprise/Unlimited.

Compare with RevRev FAQs
Is Rev free?
Rev’s current Free plan includes one user and 45 AI transcription or caption minutes per month in English. It is distinct from paid human transcription, which is charged separately.
How much does Rev human transcription cost?
The listed price is USD 1.99 per audio minute for English human transcription. AI subscription minutes do not cover it; subscription discounts differ by plan and billing cycle.
Can Rev export SRT or VTT subtitles?
Yes. AI transcripts can be converted to SRT/VTT, but those files cannot be edited in the AI captions editor. Ordering captions provides a separate caption workflow and additional formats.
Does Rev use recordings to train AI?
Rev’s training guide says anonymous data is used to improve its own speech-recognition models. Enterprise/Unlimited customers can opt out. This differs from policies about third-party language models.
