From paper discovery to a structured research draft
SciSpace brings academic discovery, document reading and research writing into one workspace. Its dedicated tools cover literature reviews, questions about PDFs, evidence extraction and citations. The AI Agent extends that collection with research tasks and outputs such as reports, drafts and presentations. It is useful for moving between finding a paper, understanding a difficult section and organising findings for later writing.
PDF chat links explanations to sections of a document. Highlighted text can be explained in simpler language, while the extraction tool arranges information across papers into a table with default or custom columns. Those tables support spreadsheet and reference exports, which makes the extracted material easier to reuse outside SciSpace. File size and batch limits apply to extraction.
Access spans the web, a Chrome extension and an iOS app. Free tools and limited Basic access sit alongside individual subscriptions and organisation plans. Agent tasks use the available allowance, and current paid plans differ in credits, model access and parallel chats. Eligible institutional access can help open full-text papers, but a subscription does not grant access to every publisher’s content.
Best for
- Researchers building literature reviews
- Students reading complex academic papers
- Teams organising evidence across PDFs
Limitations
Generated explanations and extracted cells can be wrong or incomplete. Agent usage, file batches and full-text access have separate limits; advertised unlimited features do not remove every restriction.
