Creative agents with directable video models
Luma’s current app combines conversational creative agents with video, image and audio generation. A project can begin with references or a brief and develop into a collection of assets, with context carried between creation and revision. The platform includes Luma’s own Ray and Uni models alongside third-party image, video and audio models. Its editing and assembly tools support clips, captions and sound, while collaboration features allow creative work to be shared with other people.
Ray3.2 is the main production-oriented video model in the current offer. It introduces multi-keyframe direction, with up to 16 keyframes guiding an image-to-video clip. Native text-to-video and image-to-video generation produce five- or ten-second clips, from 360p draft to 1080p. Modify Video can adapt up to 20 seconds of source footage depending on its frame rate, while Reframe accepts up to 16 seconds. New generations are silent; modification and reframing retain the original audio. Native HDR and 16-bit EXR output provide options for colour grading and compositing, with additional credit costs.
The current subscription range is Plus, Pro and Ultra, with different credit allowances and Agent usage. Prices for the present Luma app should be distinguished from the older Dream Machine Lite and Unlimited offers still described in some help material. Generation costs vary substantially: Ray3.2’s displayed SDR text/image-to-video pricing is 100 credits for five seconds at 720p and 300 for ten seconds, with 1080p, HDR and EXR costing more. Luma is especially relevant to creators who want reference-led direction and output that can continue into editing or compositing, alongside broader campaign creation tools.
Best for
- Creators directing short AI-generated scenes
- Agencies producing campaign assets and variations
- Video teams using frame controls and HDR production assets
Limitations
Native Ray3.2 text/image-to-video clips are five or ten seconds and have no generated audio. Modify Video supports up to 20 seconds depending on frame rate; Reframe accepts up to 16 seconds. HDR and EXR cost extra. Standard paid terms permit model-development use of inputs and outputs. The advertised free entry has no verified current public credit allowance. Older Dream Machine plans are separate from the current Luma app offer.
