Generate AI footage with control over shots and references
Kling AI is a creative studio for generated video and images. A written prompt can establish a scene, while reference frames and supported Elements inputs guide its visual content. Its Video 3.0 controls combine short clips with native audio and multi-shot generation, including individual shot instructions and durations. These features make the platform relevant for creators developing scenes rather than only applying an effect to existing footage. The homepage now promotes Kling 4.0; access to newer models is separate from the documented Video 3.0 feature set.
Video 3.0 supports clips between three and fifteen seconds at 720p or 1080p. Audio changes the generation cost: 1080p footage uses eight credits per second without native audio or twelve with it; 720p uses six or nine. Voice tone control adds two credits per second. A five-second native-audio 1080p clip therefore uses sixty credits before additional voice control. Reference and shot controls vary across models, so a subscription’s credit balance does not translate into one fixed number of videos.
The global subscriptions add monthly credits, paid generation benefits and commercial-use permission under the service terms. Annual subscriptions still release credits monthly, rather than providing the entire year’s allocation at once. Subscription credits last thirty-one days from issue and can expire when membership ends; purchased credits have a separate two-year validity. The API uses its own packages and model availability. The current annual Ultra offer includes Kling 4.0 Flash early access, which should not be assumed for every subscription.
Best for
- Creators generating short cinematic shots
- Video producers using character and image references
- Teams making AI footage with model-specific audio controls
Limitations
Introductory prices differ from ongoing discounted renewal rates. Monthly credits expire and generation costs vary by model, resolution, duration and audio. Video 3.0’s 15-second/1080p limits are model-specific; newer 4.0 access and 4K benefits have separate conditions. Paid commercial-use rights remain subject to the service terms and third-party rights. API packages are billed separately.

Is Kling AI free?
Basic access is free. The public membership FAQ describes a monthly free-credit claim, but does not give a fixed amount in its comparison grid. Free access should not be treated as unlimited generation or a paid commercial-use licence.
How much does Kling AI cost?
The current global page displays monthly renewal prices of USD 8.80 for Standard, 32.56 for Pro, 80.96 for Premier and 159.99 for Ultra. First-month prices are lower; annual plans have separate yearly totals. The displayed offers can change.
How many credits does a Kling video use?
For Video 3.0, 720p costs six credits/second without native audio or nine with it; 1080p costs eight or twelve. Voice tone control adds two credits/second. Other models and actions have their own rates.
Can Kling AI videos be used commercially?
The global membership FAQ grants paid subscribers commercial use of generated content subject to its terms and third-party rights. It excludes using the content to develop competing products or services. This permission is not asserted for the Basic tier.
