Presenter-led videos and localisation without repeat filming
HeyGen is built around videos in which a presenter delivers a script. A stock avatar provides an immediate starting point, while a custom Digital Twin or a photo avatar gives the video a specific face. Avatar IV can animate a photo from a script or recorded audio, including illustrated and non-human characters. Its Photo and Video Looks use different credit rates, so two videos of equal length can consume different amounts. Paid web plans add voice cloning and a wider language selection; a custom avatar still requires permission to use the person’s likeness.
Video Agent provides a conversational way to develop a complete video. It prepares a plan, then generates presenter scenes and other assets. Chatting and revising the plan do not consume credits; generating the media does. A finished project can be copied into AI Studio, where text, layouts, images and timing can be adjusted. Changes to the script, voice or avatar can require new animation and another credit charge. This combination suits explainers, course material, product introductions and social videos that need both a presenter and supporting visuals.
Translation is another major part of the platform. HeyGen offers lip-sync translation, audio-only dubbing and options to proofread the translated script on eligible plans. Creator exports at 1080p, while Pro and Business support 4K. Business adds collaboration, interactive learning content and SCORM export. Current web subscriptions use a shared credit balance rather than the older unlimited model: footage generation, translation and new assets compete for that allowance. The mobile app, developer API and LiveAvatar service have distinct billing rules, so the web subscription figures should not be applied to those services.

Limitations
Free output is for non-commercial evaluation and has a regional video quota. Web Creator and Pro do not sell one-time credit packs; Business can buy them. Thirty minutes is the Creator/Pro completed-video limit, not a guarantee for every generation app. Mobile store credits expire without the web rollover entitlement. Standard paid terms permit content use for model improvement and training.
