AI narration with script-level voice controls
Murf Studio centres on turning a written script into a finished voiceover. Script blocks give a narration project structure, while voice selection, pronunciation and pacing controls help shape how individual lines are spoken. The format suits explainers, learning content and presentations that need a consistent narrator. Studio runs in a browser; its mobile web version offers a smaller set of controls, so the desktop browser remains the main production environment.
Studio measures usage in voice generation time, or VGT. Generating a new script block uses the duration of the resulting speech, and changing its text can consume that block’s duration again. Adjusting the voice or delivery settings for unchanged text does not use additional VGT. Downloads are a separate entitlement: paid plans allow downloads, but unlimited downloads do not provide unlimited generation. Unused VGT can carry into one following billing cycle when the subscription renews under the carry-forward rules.
Paid Studio audio exports include WAV, MP3 and other formats, with 48 kHz, 16-bit audio at the high-quality setting. The speech API has its own models and character-based pricing; Falcon 2 supports streaming, while legacy Gen2 streaming is deprecated. Commercial rights differ by Studio plan, and custom voice cloning requires a separate arrangement. Murf’s explicit no-training commitment applies to Enterprise customers. These distinctions make it easier to budget narration projects separately from an application’s speech usage.
Best for
- Individuals producing narrated videos and explainers
- Businesses making training and presentation voiceovers
- Developers integrating speech through a separately billed API
Limitations
Free Studio does not include downloads or commercial rights. Generation hours remain finite even with unlimited downloads. Annual Studio hours form a yearly pool; API characters use a separate balance. Commercial and broadcasting rights depend on the licence, and voice cloning is an Enterprise add-on. Enterprise data terms should not be assumed for every plan.

Is Murf free?
Free Studio offers 10 minutes of generation, but audio downloads and commercial rights require a paid plan.
How much does Murf Studio cost?
Creator is USD 29/month or 228/year; Business is USD 99/month or 792/year. Annual plans use yearly generation pools. API usage is separate.
Does changing a Murf voice use more minutes?
Changing voice or delivery settings for unchanged rendered text does not consume VGT. New text or text edits consume the regenerated sub-block’s speech duration.
Can Murf voiceovers be used commercially?
Creator’s Personal licence covers individuals and small-scale commercial use; Business has the organisation licence. Free has no commercial rights, and full broadcasting rights require an Enterprise add-on.
